A New Home

The house hunt is over. Last night S.O* and I picked up the keys to the place we bought. That's right, we have bought a house! Since then, I have had this silly smile on my face. I can't help it. Who knew that something as simple as keys would turn me into this sentimental, mushy character? You know, the one that wants to shed happy tears, hug everyone and tell them how much I love them...that sounds awfully a lot like my tipsy/drunk-self too!

The thing is, I always wanted a place of our own. I have desperately wanted to leave my parents' place for many reasons. After living on my own in London, I could not wait to do it here in Johannesburg! For various reasons (safety, cultural aspects, financially) I have not gotten a place sooner. It feels right though, to do this with my S.O. Once we are married, we will move it together - that is because of the traditions our parents hold dear. In the mean time, we will start to furnish the house, re-do the kitchen and a few other things.

The seller and his family seem like lovely folk. He bought us a pot plant with a card that read: "To wish you everything of the best in your new home, may you spend as many happy years as we did in it."

*S.O = Significant Other

That is so awesome. I wish you many many happy and SAFE years in your new home :) (PS. I know all about the perils of being an adult child *sigh*)

Thank you, Po!

Lovely Light, definitely.

Azra: Being an adult child drives me batty. I cannot wait to move out!

JediChick: Hope you have found a place by now?

Deidre: I have taken a few pics, but it is so difficult to photograph empty rooms! Maybe I shall put it up...

Lulu: Thank you!

Congratulations on your new home! You must be very excited to move in to this house. Do you have any photo of it? I’d love to see how beautiful it is. May I know if you finally moved in to this new home?

“The thing is, I always wanted a place of our own.”--- Well, I think all of us wanted to have a place that we can call our own. Purchasing a house is what most people dream in life. We consider buying a property as a great achievement. I know that you’re really happy at the moment. Congratulations, dear! ^^,

Aaah, the previous owner of your house seemed very sweet. The family even gave you something as a warm welcome. :’) How was the renovation? Are you done with it and moved into the house already?

A very good post indeed. It's a shame about some of the responses. I have to admit that the way how tides work is just fascinating.

Alpa: Thanks! I still do not feel very "adult"! :)

Lorrie: We finally moved in this weekend! Yay!

Romana: It is common cultural practice in my community of Indian origin for couples to stay with the guys' parents. Even my S.O (Significant Other) wanted us to stay with his parents, but I thought it will be better for our relationship that we have our own place. Thanks for the well wishes!

Madalyn: Yes, the renovations are finally done. There are just a few small things to be done, here and there. We moved in this weekend. I am so happy right now!

Blinds: Thank you for the positive feedback.
