Stuck between two crazy choices

Sometimes I wonder what is the lesser of two evils:

  • Waking up at 4:45am so I can get to work by 6:00am - only done to beat traffic. This way it takes me just under an hour to get to work - and that is with little or no traffic.
  • Or leaving home at 6:00am to sit for 2 hours in traffic, and that is just a one way trip.
At the moment I am doing the first option. Let's just say that waking up early is killing me. Then again, so would sitting in traffic. Sigh, I wish Johannesburg had a wide reach, safe and reliable public  transport system. I cannot wait for the day that S.O* and I get a place together - something more central. Until then, I will stick to craziness.

*S.O = Significant Other

I also prefer to do the early thing. But I'm lucky because I get to work until 3pm. It really is super-crazy thats why I moved. Days like these I miss London terribly *sob* :(

Hi Azra. I get to leave at 3:30pm - because I get in early. That is a huge plus. :) I have the afternoon to cook!

Sorry about the chocolate Monday - I had the day off work to take my car in and the day was taken up by admin and not the internet. Next Monday, promise. Thanks for that link too.

I did this for about 2 months once-travelling to Lenz from Joburg. But I'd only leave home at 6am, get to work at 7am & leave at 3pm.

I found it easy then, but when I was at SAfm doing Sat AM Live, I could never get used to waking up early on a Sat so I could be at work by 5am.

I'd say go to work early most days but on the days you absolutely cannot wake up, go in later.
Sigh. I also wish we had a decent public transport system. It pains & annoys me to see the Gautrain buses running empty almost all day, because the fares are too high.

I dream of having a tram system like the one in Istanbul.

I would definitely go option one as crazy early as it is it is a better option than sitting in traffic for two hours - yuk!
