The Peter Pan Syndrome

I am currently having a lot of trouble finding the right words - hence the absence from Blogger-ville. My insides are a muddled, muddy mess. I cannot begin to wade through it at the moment. But I think this quote captures a bit of what I feel right now, but I could be wrong. Regardless it is still a wonder of words. I got it from Slutty's sister, who got it from another friend. :)

"I'm convinced that most people do not grow up. We find parking spaces and honour our credit cards. We marry and dare to have children and call that growing up.I think what we do is mostly grow old.We carry accumulation of years in our bodies and our faces; but generally our real selves, the children inside, are still innocent and shy as magnolias" - Maya Angelou

Awwww...beatifully said. Maya Angelou definitely captured it. I can honestly relate. No matter how old I get I still feel young (at heart) but I do wish things were as simple as it used to be.

Can I just say... I don't think that the point is to grow up. How many times haven't we heard that to live your best life we have to remain young at heart or that we should "play" often or that we should "Keep your childish innocence"?

We do the best we can when we know how.

The words will come, they always do ;)

Hell yes, that describes me. And some people wear the grown up disguise better than others.

azra: i know, i agree with you. but there is this pressure to do all these sort of grown-up conventional things and right now, it is really annoying me!

po: do you really think it is JUST A DISGUISE? some people are happy with this sorta stuff!

Fatima: :) glad you did!
