Large rooms fit for grand balls. Intricate arched walls and velvety textured wall paper. Artwork large and small, masterpieces adorned by lavish frames. Even the air smelt sophisticated. The atmosphere was electrified with history. The National Gallery at Trafalgar Square is a gem in London. From room to room, I walked in circles staring agape. Surely this amount of beauty under one roof is a sin?
A second, third and infinite trips is a must. And maybe one day I can sneak a painting home for a wall in my room. Or maybe I should hide underneath one of the couches and eventually make all that splendour my new home.

Ah, the National Gallery...one of my favourite spots :)
If you haven't been yet, you should check out the National Portrait Gallery as well...you can get lost in the spooky faces of the past. And each piece tells a tale of long forgotten people from a time we will never know. I used to sit and and study them for hours...contemplating their lives, what they must have experienced, etc. Its quite intriguing :)
I havent been there before...i want to go see ...sounds fabulous. I liked the Tate modern - have you been there?
we barely spent an hour in there... saw maybe 5-10% of what they have.. :-O
azra: its on my ever increasingly long list of "ThingsToDoInLondon" did you manage to come up with anything intersting while contemplating the lives behind the portraits? maybe write a series of short stories? waddya say?
Being brazen: thats on my list too! *read above*
Mash: all the more reason to go back. pity they were closing so early, pity time flies when you having fun. thanks for the visit. oi, a blogger with a face...how weird!
well it's not as pretty as yours but it'll do for now.
I don't think time flies when you're having fun. We just fail to realise the special moments when they come along
next time you're having fun.. stop a moment.. take it in, understand it's not coming again. then carry on regardless. don't mourn the moment while it's happening.
I went to that museum once, it was cool but I loved the Tate modern more than anything! But it is only for people who like modern art, really.
Dennis likes museums, but they need more cushions in them.
I think will have to give that a try sometime!
I am drooling over your lovely description of the National Gallery.
